Weatherization

Weatherization is the practice of protecting a building and its interior from the elements, (particularly from sunlight, precipitation, and wind) and of modifying a building to reduce energy consumption and optimize energy efficiency.

The goal of our Weatherization Program is to reduce the energy costs for residents and to complete smarter rehabs in our housing development.  Residents interested in our Weatherization program must be recipients of the Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) administered by Community Action of Greater Indianapolis (CAGI).  If you are interested in this program you must be first enroll in LIHEAP and secondly, meet income qualifications.

Education about energy conservation is an important part of the program and Dominic, our Weatherization Program Coordinator, delivers information and resources to each household he visits.  If you have questions about MFCDC's Weatherization Program, contact Dominic, 923-5514.

We Need Your Help

The funding for our Weatherization Program does not fully cover administrative costs, so if you feel that creating safe and energy efficient housing is important, please consider supporting this program with your donation.  Your financial support will be used to better assist households with information and referral services, and to help families enroll in our Home Repair Program (which assists an additional 20 households each year).
